If you are a storm chaser or just an observer, a thunderstorm that skirted around Port Elizabeth on Tuesday evening did not disappoint - producing some spectacular lightening displays. Our Deputy Editor just happened to capture it all on his phone. The hour-long footage has been compressed to produce this 1 minute 30sec timelapse video of the thunderstorm and the amazing sunset that emerged after the storm had passed.

Yes, at 12h00 today, Thursday 27 April, a fleet of 7 boats will start the 3rd Vasco da Gama Ocean race to Port Elizabeth, and the 46th Vasco race ever sailed. 44 hardy crew will compete on the 7 boats - with 25 ‘Vasco Virgins’ doing the race for the very time. Like the Comrades Marathon, each and every crew will have the satisfaction of knowing that they have completed the course and have achieved something very few others have. All eye’s are on the weather right now, and as some wag said at the farewell cocktail party last evening, “it never looked like this in my day”. Severe rain and thunder storm in Port Elizabeth
Here is a scuba dive we did off the shore off Port Elizabeth, South Africa. The weather was over cast, there is a storm coming in the next day. I went anyway, didn't want to miss an opportunity. Saw some fish and some vegetation. The current was really strong.
